26.09.2014 Planting of the 200th tree in the Luthergarten

After the excavators have left the location, it is quiet and contemplative in the Luthergarten again. The road construction is almost completed, hedges which are lining the main path were planted, and within the next days the last trees will be delivered for this location. The final shape of the garden, the ellipse is now clearly visible. The Luthergarten is a good place to visit, which invites to stay and makes you curious.

On every continent the Luthergarten is already known. Churches representatives from 77 countries took part in the project Luthergarten "500 years of Reformation - 500 trees in Wittenberg ", traveled to Luther´s town and planted a tree for their church. So, they expressed a deep attachment to the historical impact of the Reformation, which began in this town almost 500 years ago.

On September 26th, 2014, the sponsor of the 200th tree was welcomed in the Luthergarten. Sponsor became the Northwest Washington Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. For this purpose Rev. Dr. Kevin Bates (Magnolia Lutheran Church, Seattle, WA) took a chance to guide a group of members from various church congregations to Wittenberg. The symbolical planting took over Mr. Mark Johnson, a former member of the Synod Church Council and Mrs. Virginia Garrison, former Deacon at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tacoma, WA.
