From idea to reality
500 Years of Reformation – 500 Trees in Lutherstadt Wittenberg
Under this motto, the Lutheran World Federation and the city of Lutherstadt Wittenberg created a living, international, and ecumenical monument for the Reformation Jubilee in 2017.
500 trees in three locations in the city of Wittenberg and an ever-growing network of partner trees around the world: that is the Luthergarten today.
The Luthergarten in Wittenberg is open to all, year-round. Experience the garden with its different atmospheres: walk the paths lined with linden trees, stand under the Heaven’s Cross, or enjoy the expansive evening sky from the top of the Bunkerberg.

Such a large project can only be realized with generous financial support. Churches, congregations, and individuals donated so that no church would be excluded because they could not afford the cost of a tree planting. Our heartfelt thanks for all the support, which is an important symbol of solidarity among the churches.
