Planting in the Luther Garden :

On June 12th, 2015, Pastor Martin Eldred (left) and his wife Shelly Eldred (right, in front of the Director of Studies of the LWF Center Wittenberg, Pastor Joachim Zirkler), representing Bishop Shelley Wickstrom, planted a red maple tree on behalf of the Alaska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Planting the partner tree :

On February 10th, 2017, partner trees for four synods in the Pacific Northwest of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America were planted on the grounds of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, USA. Heirloom tree species were selected for the partner trees in the southeast part of the campus. Bishop Shelly Wickstrom (right) planted an Oregon white oak tree on behalf of the Alaska Synod. Many employees and students took part in the planting ceremony (from left: Bishop Richard Jaech, Bishop Martin Wells, Bishop Kirby Unti, President Thomas W. Krise, Bishop Shelly Wickstrom).
