.On March 25th, 2017, Church District Superintendent Sabine Preuschoff (left, next to the tree, with spade), together with Mr. Hans-Dieter Pauli (2nd from right), the head of the church district’s Committee for Partnership and Global Ecumenism, planted a sweetgum tree on behalf of the partnership between the Evangelical Lutheran Church District of Burgdorf in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover and the Evangelical Lutheran Church District Johannesburg West (Western Circuit) in South Africa. This partnership was founded in 1981. Unfortunately, no representative from Johannesburg was able to be present at the tree planting.
On April 2nd, 2017, following a worship service where the confirmands were presented, Church Superintendent Sabine Preuschoff-Kleinschmit, Heidrun Golenia, Karla Schmidt, Heinz Hellberg, and Pastor Büttner, with participation of the confirmands, planted a copper beech tree in front of the church “Zum Heiligen Kreuze” in Sehnde, Germany, as partner tree for the Evangelical Lutheran Church District of Burgdorf.
