On March 7th, 2014, Pastor Ralph Beims (left, next to the Director of the LWF Center Wittenberg, Pastor Hans W. Kasch), on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Church District of Goslar, and Headmaster Hans-Peter Dreß (right), along with students of the 11th grade at the High School of Goslar, planted a “Schöner von Nordhausen” apple tree together as a symbol of the shared preparation for the Reformation Jubilee in 2017. A trombone choir provided music for the occasion.
On March 14th, 2014, two partner trees were planted for the Evangelical Lutheran Church District of Goslar and the High School of Goslar. School Pastor Ralph Beims and Headmaster Hans-Peter Dreß planted a “Luther Oak” tree in the schoolyard of the high school. The whole teaching staff and student body took part in the planting and remembered the planting which the 11th graders had experienced the week before in the Luthergarten in Wittenberg. Bishop Dr. Friedrich Weber closed the ceremony with a blessing. Afterwards, another partner tree planting took place in front of the Marktkirche (Market Church) in Goslar, led by Church District Provost Thomas Gunkel, with Pastor Martin Junge, General Secretary of the LWF, and bishops from Namibia, England, and Czechia participating.
