On July 4th, 2011, Bishop Mwamba Sumaili (right, receiving the certificate from Pastor Hans W. Kasch, Director of the LWF Center Wittenberg) planted a common ash tree on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Congo (DRC).

On October 31st, 2013, the bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Congo, accompanied by many congregation members, planted a palm tree as partner tree for their church.
