On November 1st, 2009, the first 25 trees in the Luthergarten were adopted. President Dr. Christiane Groeben of Rome (reading the selected Bible verse next to Pastor Hans W. Kasch, Director of the LWF Center Wittenberg) planted a field maple tree on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Italy.

On November 13th, 2009, Dr. Christiane Groeben, President of the Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Italy (left), planted an olive tree in front of the deanery in Rome.
