On November 1st, 2009, the first 25 trees in the Luthergarten were adopted. Church Executive Dr. Hans Christian Brandy (right, reading the selected Bible verse) planted a red maple tree on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover, Germany.
On June 5th, 2012, Jürgen Schneider, President of the 24th Regional Synod, planted a red maple tree on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover. Jürgen Schneider explained, “The tree, the deciduous tree, is a strong symbol: the leaves which are renewed every year show that life is stronger than death – at the tree we learn the rhythm of growing, blooming, ripening, resting; we read the times of year and times of life and see the connection between earth and heaven in the tree, with its roots and crown.” Schneider planted the Hanover Luther tree as a sign for beginning a climate protection program.
