On November 1st, 2014, representatives of the congregation together with their Pastor Peter Laudi planted a “Rote Sternrenette” apple tree on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Uettingen, Germany. They were accompanied by the Uettinger Society for Traditional Costumes. The idea came from Mr. Detlef Pathe (with spade at the tree), a native of Wittenberg.
On Pentecost Sunday, May 24th, 2015, Pastor Peter Laudi (left, next to the tree) and Detlef Pathe (in historical costume, 8th from left), together with the assembled congregation, planted a checker tree in the church garden behind St. Bartholomäus as partner tree. This species was particularly well liked by Katharina von Bora. On September 4th, 2016, the tree was blessed during a church festival. For the Reformation Jubilee in 2017, the area around the tree was paved in the form of a Luther rose.
