On September 15th, 2012, Church District Provost Ainars Springis (3rd from right) planted a honey locust tree on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Kristus Speka Congregation in Aizkraukle, Latvia. He was accompanied by congregation and church council members, as well as Pastor Manfred Hallwaß (3rd from left) with representatives of the congregation in Nordstemmen, Germany. Both congregations have had a close partnership since 1991.
On September 22nd, 2013, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary celebration of the church building in Aizkraukle, the partner tree for the Evangelical Lutheran Kristus Speka Congregation in Aizkraukle, Latvia, was planted. Many guests from neighbor churches and from congregations of other confessions took part in the ceremony. The mayor was present and acknowledged the Luthergarten as a successful project.
