On September 29th, 2018, representatives of both congregations sharing an ecumenical bond planted a Norway maple tree on behalf of the Evangelical St Peter´s Garrison Church Barker Barracks, Paderborn, Germany, and the Catholic Congregation Our Lady of Lourdes, Sennelager, Germany (the picture was taken after the tree planting).
On April 10th, 2019, young students of the English Bishopsparl School in Paderborn planted a European white elm tree (tree of the year 2019) as a partner tree for the Evangelical St Peter´s Garrison Church Barker Barracks, Paderborn, Germany, and Catholic Congregation Our Lady of Lourdes, Sennelager, Germany. Looking back, the mutual tree planting appears to be a prophetic act: both churches celebrated their last worship service on Easter Sunday 2019 and were joined as the ecumenical “St. Boniface” congregation afterwards.
