On April 18th, 2017, Pastor Hans W. Kasch, Director of the LWF Center Wittenberg (right, reading the selected Bible verse), representing the groups, planted a Thuringian ash tree on behalf of the Lutheran Campus Ministry of Oregon State University and Grace Lutheran Church Youth in Corvallis, Oregon, USA. Guests who were in town for the planting of tree number 390 took part in this tree planting as well.
On May 14th, 2017, students involved in the Lutheran Campus Ministry at Oregon State University and members of the youth group of Grace Lutheran Church in Corvallis, Oregon, USA, planted a Pacific Cascara tree (Ramnus purshiana cascara) as partner tree in the backyard of the Luther House at the university. This tree species is common in the region and was historically used medicinally by the local peoples. It offers habitat for many species of birds, bees, and butterflies.
