On July 16th, 2010, ahead of the General Assembly of the Lutheran World Federation in Stuttgart, Bishop Melvin Jiminez Marin (with spade) planted a common ash tree on behalf of the Lutheran Costa Rican Church.
On September 19th, 2010, Archbishop Anders Wejryd from the church in Sweden and Bishop Melvin Jimenez from the Lutheran Costa Rican Church planted the “Casco de Venado” tree as the partner tree for the Lutheran Costa Rican Church and as a symbol of the community of the Lutheran church in the world and the commitment to climate justice. The bishops planted the tree on the occasion of signing a partnership agreement between the two churches.
