On July 15th, 2010, ahead of the General Assembly of the Lutheran World Federation in Stuttgart, Pastor Susanne Freytag (in front of the tree) planted a flowering ash tree on behalf of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands.

Garden Work? A Tree Which Gives Global Connection

On November 18th, 2011, General Secretary Pastor Dr. Arjan Plaisier (left) planted a young flowering ash tree in the green space around the Dutch churchwide offices in Utrecht as partner tree for the Protestant Church in the Netherlands. Taking part in the festivities were Pastor Susanne Freytag (right), Lutheran synod president; other members of the Lutheran Synod of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands; and Church Executive Norbert Denecke (center) from the German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation.
