Planting in the Luther Garden :

On July 19th, 2012, Pastor Robert M. O’Berg (with spade) planted a red maple tree on behalf of the Sierra Pacific Synod in California of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). He was accompanied by his wife (left) as well as two other members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fresno, California.

Planting the partner tree :

On November 3rd, 2012, during the yearly fall gathering of the Central San Joaquin Conference in Fresno, California, 50 participants gathered for a tree planting in front of the Lutheran Campus Ministry Center across from the university. Pastor Robert O’Berg led the liturgy, and Pastor Mark Holmerud, Bishop of the Sierra Pacific Synod, planted a Bradford pear tree as the partner tree.
