On October 31st, 2011, during the 4th International Theological Seminar of the Lutheran World Federation, Bishop Wilma Kucharek (in front of the tree, with spade) planted a small leaved linden tree on behalf of the Slovak Zion Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. A child from the Protestant Elementary School in Wittenberg is ready to help by watering the tree.

On September 15th, 2013, Bishop Wilma S. Kucharek (pictured) planted a partner tree at the synod offices in Torrington, Connecticut, USA, on behalf of the Slovak Zion Synod.
