On October 3rd, 2012, following a conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Mission in Hermannsburg, General Secretary Dr. Berhanu Ofgaa (in front of the tree, reading the selected Bible verse) planted a hawthorn tree on behalf of The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus.
On July 22nd, 2014, President Pastor Dr. Wakseyoum Idossa (center) planted a Japanese medlar tree on behalf of The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus. He was supported by representatives of all the synods, who were meeting as part of a conference of the leadership of the Ethiopian Church in Addis Ababa. The tree stands on the grounds of the Gudina Tumse Holistic Training Center in Addis Ababa.
