On October 31st, 2011, Ms. Renate Skirl of Wittenberg (with spade) planted an amur maple tree on behalf of Zion’s Lutheran Church in Jonestown, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. A child from the Protestant Elementary School in Wittenberg is ready to help by watering the tree.
On October 31st, 2011, shortly after a hurricane destroyed a large tree on the church grounds, Pastor Rob Myalis, with enthusiastic support of the congregation (see photo), planted a field maple tree (Acer campestre ‘Elsrijk’) as partner tree for Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jonestown, Pennsylvania, USA. This tree stands for reconciliation, healing and new life, Pastor Myalis explained.
